Caroline Martinez is a Colombian-born visual artist based in South Florida. She immigrated to the United States as a child, and that experience of crossing cultures shaped her art's central questions: migration, belonging, and the universality of human emotion.
Working primarily in acrylic, she paints expressive abstract works that give visible form to feelings. Each painting is a marathon of thought, emotion and revelation — she often titles her pieces after the emotion itself.
A method artist, Martinez takes time to prepare herself and her surroundings before beginning, wanting every part of her to feel the work. She is deeply interested in art as a path to emotional wellbeing, creating pieces that help people express what words cannot.

I work in many different mediums — acrylics, watercolor, and colored pencils. I believe working in a single medium is restrictive; each idea manifests in its own individual style.

For me, art is communication without specific form or figures. It is the expression of being — my being is my feelings. I paint with colors in a free liberation of emotions that cannot be put into words. I love when people stand in front of my art and feel it.
